The Health & Education Committee meets on the 2nd Thursday of each month at 6:30 PM. Please check the calendar page each month for the location of the meeting and tentative agenda.
The Health & Education Committee monitors and reviews issues that affect our community’s physical, mental, and emotional health and well-being. The committee also looks at environmental issues. Furthermore, the Committee develops community-based proposals to protect the health of our district’s residents.
The Committee is responsible for the issues, programs, services, and facilities related to the education of pre-K and K-12 students in Manhattan Community District 6. The committee leads discussions on the development of policies and strategies to enhance the quality of education for our students.
The committee also focuses on issues that affect students outside of the classroom, including after-school programs, youth employment, and other support services.
The Committee coordinates with the City and State’s health and human services agencies, as well as with the district’s hospitals and senior centers. Additionally, the Committee organizes and leads informational events to ensure that the district is provided with accurate and reliable health information.
