NYC Department of Transportation Visioning for 14th Street

The City is embarking on a visioning process to propose permanent transit, streetscape enhancements, and public space improvements along Manhattan’s 14th Street, from the Hudson River to the East River. The NYC Department of Transportation is leading this effort in collaboration with the Meatpacking District Management Association (MDMA) and the Union Square Partnership (USP).

This process seeks to enhance the public realm by linking the corridors’ popular destinations, including parks, transit hubs, and institutions. This builds upon the past decade’s successful transit, bicycle network, and public realm improvements along this corridor.

The final vision plan will propose improvements that bolster the vitality of 14th Streets’ landmark neighborhoods, improving the quality of life and economic growth for decades to come.

Survey

To kick off this multi-year effort the NYC Department of Transportation wants to hear about your experiences along 14th Street so they better understand how the corridor is used. Please complete their survey by April 10, 2026. You can find the survey here.
